Buying A Puppy

Breeding Policy

Shallowford are Kennel Club Accredited and we breed very selectively, aiming to maintain and improve the breed, adhering strictly to Kennel Club guidance and that of the Golden Retriever Club only from health checked dogs with steady and sure temperaments. Shallowford will not breed from a dog with a hip score totalling more than the mean breed score, (presently 15) and though some breeders consider this unrealistic, it is a standard to which we adhere in our bid to help eradicate hip dysplasia.

We are dedicated to producing healthy, happy, biddable, true to breed Labradors that are well socialised and a joy to own. Our Labradors are suitable as working dogs or family pets. Our Goldens are from the very best show lines in the country and generations of careful breeding aimed at ensuring  the classic gentle Golden Retriever temperament. Our puppies are born and raised in our family home and are well socialised.

We offer support throughout the lifetime of our puppies and though we do not profess to know everything, we will be able to point you in the right direction of further help or advice.
